the offense is loaded with proven players we can reasonably expect to improve. Defense is loaded with inside straight draws.

I can see my way to a great defense. Or a terrible one. Every level could be a problem the rest of the defense needs to cover. Meanwhile there are two concerns on offense. (injuries aside)
1. Bryce will not be good.
2. The OL as a unit will again be poor.
There is very good reason to believe both are more likely to surprise to the better. On defense the secondary could again give up constant third down conversions, unable to stick to WRs when it matters. The LBs could be terrible in either run or (more likely) pass defense. Will the DL generate pressure with four? Can they stop the run with inexperienced LBs struggling behind them. Will the safeties make plays like most modern defenses need? Almost across the board we haven’t seen it from the guys who will be logging the most snaps.
The upside is definitely there. We. Shall. See.
