The position of the pro-Belichick faction here has never been that he deserves more credit than Brady. The position is that he was a very good coach, I.e. not “replacement level,” and that it is insane to credit one person entirely for a 19-year dynasty in a sport with 22 starters and 53 players. This is Bill Barnwell’s position. It is Aaron Schatz’s position.

I previously described the Brady-Belichick wars on this board to my college roommate, who is from Massachusetts and is a huge Pats fan. He started laughing uncontrollably when I started describing g the “Belichick is a replacement level coach and most NFL coaches could have won six Super Bowls with Brady” position.
