1. Wow, Chip Kelly installing the wing-T offense was... a choice. My high school team ran that offense in the 1980s. But it was a super old system even then! During two a days, we watched an old black and white film from the 50s, I think, showing the University of Delaware running it.

It did not seem effective at all? Some of the bootleg passes seemed to work, but the boots worked better under their normal offense. Very odd. The whole Chip Kelly career arc is goofy. He goes from NFL head coach to college head coach to OSU offensive coordinator to raiders OC to Northwestern OC. If he gets fired, is he going to take a MAC coordinator job? How badly does this guy want to keep working?

2. If you're watching Indiana with an eye toward "can we beat these guys," the game was encouraging. They have big issues with pass protection with both tackles. Yes, please. They could not seem to do a responsible pass rush that cut off scrambling lanes. I am a bit concerned about defending their running game, though they have enormous problems getting push in short yardage.

Good reminder that even good coaches with talent can field teams that look like a mess in several aspects in September. They'll probably get it together by late in the year but they don't look like a national champion.
