I’m really not worried about Whittingham or Beck being a limitation on QB development. As discussed below, there are so few star QBs, and any given college program gets very few shots at developing one, that the sample sizes on these stats are ridiculously small.

I think Beck’s offense is a great fit for UM, culturally, and in terms of our current offensive personnel. If Underwood never amounts to anything (which I don’t think will happen), then he would appear to simply be a bust, irrespective of coaching regime, right?

If he does improve incrementally, then that’s a good sign for the current staff and their ability to develop a QB, right? Also, I doubt it’s a long-term issue either way, because Whittingham is not going to be a long-term HC. It’s only a longterm issue if his successor is Beck or someone else from his tree.
