I've been watching it slowly progress for about 8 years now.

I've had a lot of neurological stuff going on for about the same length of time that I noticed that happening. I think I'll bring it up to my GP soon and see what needs to happen, it's been on the back burner for long enough now.
I've got no idea what the surgery entails but I can imagine it's annoying to recover from.
