The Victors

I'm at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC), although given they spun off the Space part to be it's own thing, it should revert to NAIC.

I had to go to the library today as part of my inprocessing. It's actually pretty neat; a lot of old AF documents, including classified items since it's in a SCIF. Some of it is from the 1950's and still classified, as we were told we couldn't check that stuff out. Why it's still classified is anyone's guess: I don't think learning that we know about shit from the 1950's gives away any tactics, techniques, and procedures.

They had a conference room, which the librarian pointed out could be rented out, which is useful since getting a conference room is a cutthroat experience. He told us you could rent it out for any reason. Some guy once rented it just so he could eat lunch alone. People also rent it out to play DnD and Magic: the Gathering during their breaks, which is the most on-brand thing ever.

Our new boss gave a talk today at an awards ceremony. After talking about his background and his philosophy, he told us we couldn't get to the awards until he was asked 3 questions.

First question: What is your favorite color?

Him: (confused) Blue? What?

Second question: What is your quest? (With the appropriate accent)

Him: (even more confused) To understand this reference?

This is the point where he lost everyone.

There was also, for reasons I can't understand, a guy dressed up as a knight who was chased by a guy in an inflatable T-Rex costume around the auditorium at random intervals. It turned out the T-Rex was in our organization, and wound up volunteering to be our champion in a contest at the end of the event, which was....a push up contest. Not really the thing you want a T-Rex for. We did not win.

It's a really interesting organization with a real interesting mission. It is very much full of nerds though.
