I have a way of humbling myself

Posted on August 13, 2026 at 08:13:22 PM by Damaniac

Back in April, I hit a high point where I'd gotten into great physical shape, in addition to having hit a groove at work, social/family life going well, saving some money, etc. Went for a run, decided I should run backwards to work my hamstrings. Managed to plant my foot such that as my body turned, my foot didn't, and sprained my knee, forcing me to limp back to my car, and laid me up for 6 weeks.

Now, just enjoying that I'm figuring out my new job, got a good workout routine going, almost fully prepped for a half marathon, finalizing some renovation plans for the house, feeling pretty pleased w myself. I manage to lose my wallet on the way home. (I assume) that it fell out of my gym shorts (point for Craig bitching about people dressing like slobs) as I was putting groceries in my car. And the reason I found out is my next stop was to pick up some furniture on FB marketplace, meaning that for once I actually had cash in there. Not, like, a ton, but $170 or so, which is more than the lint and $2 thats normally in there. Still a bigger PITA replacing everything, including my CAC and my SIPR token. Which this is the 2d time I've had to replace that. Feel like the security office is going to be kind of ticked off at me. Luckily this is a different security office than the last time I lost it, so maybe they don't share records.

Not anything I'll be regretting on my deathbed, but fucking annoying.
