We had one. It would get stuck at times and we'd have to go figure out what was the issue, as it had to physically move to find the right sats.
You got the raw feed, before it even went to the local channels, for most feeds. They didn't bother to censor anything back then. You'd have some announcer saying "look at the tits in row 33" and then the camera guy would find them. As a 11-14 year old boy, this wasn't bad.

What is your favorite television channel from pre-streaming era? Nick at Nite circa Brady Bunch / Mary Tyler Moore /Wonder Years / Happy Days reruns (1997-2000) was elite. MTV has some good years too.*

The C feed of PASS sports back in the massive Sat days. My parents paid some guy to "hack" the sat box so we had every channel, including PASS. This was the "beaver shot" era and other hot mic delights. There were no comms as it was the direct feed
- how about the DirecTV reprogrammed card days? Every channel plus on demand
