His first NFL snap was almost laughable. Bredeson exploded from a traditional fullback position and led the way for running back Aaron Jones. He clipped Giants edge rusher Abdul Carter with enough force to put tight end Josh Oliver in a better position to seal Carter.

But that wasn’t all. Bredeson climbed to the second level and punished Giants cornerback Deonte Banks to give Jones more room.

The run went for 18 yards. It was a perfect example of why the Vikings drafted Bredeson in the fifth round.

Expect him to play a critical role when the season begins. His aptitude allows him to line up in all sorts of spots. His physicality adds a much-needed edge. His presence may force defenses to decide whether to counter big bodies with similar personnel groupings or stay with lighter personnel to limit the Vikings’ exceptional receiving corps.
