The Victors

1. Would be kind of funny if Democrats offered Trump a deal: rescind the 22nd Amendment legally (pass another Amendment cancelling it like the 21st repealed the Prohibition/18th Amendment) if Republicans agree to pass an Amendment enshrining Roe v. Wade (no laws restricting abortion for the first 28 weeks, etc.). That could start a real civil war within the shithead caucus. Trump would probably love that deal; he's an idiot but even an idiot can see that in most places in the country, banning abortion is a fucking loser politically. Ohio voted 57%-43% to enshrine Roe in the state constitution in 2023, 12 months before voting for Trump 55%-44%. Arizona voted for a similar measure 61%-39%, in the same election Trump won 52%-47%. He knows the superstitious lunatic shit is toxic. Actual Republican operatives would be mortified, because an actual federal constitutional amendment protecting abortion at Roe v. Wade levels would both be popular (polling suggests 55%-60% support nationally) and would basically take a huge chunk of religious lunatics and their money out of politics. What would they be organizing for, spending money on and screeching on the street about if abortion bans were off the table? They'd also know that in a fair election against a normal Dem in 2028 (I like Shapiro, but Ossoff would be great too. Beshar, Kelly, Prtizker; Dems have a deep bench of people who could win), Trump would get crushed. But you know he'd want to do it.

2. The logistics for one backdoor around the 22nd Amendment are already in place. Study what freakshow billionaire and Putin dicksuck Bidzina Ivanishvili has done with the Georgia Dream Party in Georgia (the country with wine and delicious cheese & egg bread, not the state with the Chatahoochie Plantation Braves). Ivanishvili controls every aspect of the Georgia Dream Party infrastructure, particularly its funding and candidate lists, so even though he isn't personally Georgia's PM he controls the agenda, the legislature, rules about who can and cannot run for office, what political ads can be broadcast on Georgian TV, and so on. He can avoid political accountability for GD's failures by "firing" a PM or minister if the public is unhappy, and the entire party pretends that the new guy or gal is going in a "different direction" or whatever. Trump already controls the RNC and more or less controls the Republican Party itself. He is actually rich now because of his crypto scams, open influence peddling and grifts. It's a little like what Putin did with United Russia but even more brazen.

3.We talk on here about how activist right wing judges are (creating entire "Constitutional doctrines" out of thin air without even a figleaf of pretense that they're found in the language of the Constitution), but watching them trip all over themselves to pretend that the obvious intent of the 22nd Amendment is something other than "if you've served 2 terms, you can't run for or be elected to a 3rd" should open some normies' eyes. This isn't ambiguous stuff.
