I have been a 1099 since 2021

Semi-retired doing consulting work in the auto sector. Same work I was doing with my prior employer but now working for all OEMs. Not full-time but much higher income. On my wife’s medical benefits so it was an easy decision

Really enjoy it. I submit invoices and company manages accounts receivable and sends me a check monthly. Work out of my house. Have a CPA that handles my taxes although mine aren’t too complicated. CPA provides an estimate for quarterly tax payments and I adjust up or down as my income fluctuates. Have a Self Employed 401k set up through Fidelity
