Virginia last play Dreisbach to Hayes.
WSU - Vaguely remember them missing a chip shot FG at the end.
Notre Dame driving and having a 4th down pass called short running out the clock (still can't believe that Notre Dame luck didn't cause the refs to call for a measurement which would have given them a chance to spike and take a shot at the end zone).

So, I think the brutal heat and the long games combine for the misery index.

I probably consider Virginia worse because back then I hated waiting in line and would get to my seat during warmups to beat the crowd, so that was a very long day in the sun for me. The WSU game was my first game as a student and we got there right before kickoff and had to find a seat which could be tough in the student section those days. I really don't remember the ND game being that bad - probably more focused on the Brady/Henson platoon system
