The game in Austin against Texas next year was moved up a Saturday to Labor Day weekend. Since the game is in SEC territory, I presume it will be broadcast on ESPN. Time slot, obviously, TBD.

The 2027 non conference schedule keeps the "sandwich template"--the major OOC opponent is sandwiched between two minor opponents.

Will that continue into 2028 and 2029? There are games on September 2 (Central Michigan) and September 9 (Charlotte) in 2028. If we hear the CMU contest is moved into late August, then yes, we could see that major OOC opponent on 9/2. If not, then there may be an alternative non-conference strategy in mind.

In 2029, the season opens on August 25 with Bowling Green followed by Western Michigan on September 1. If UM keeps the sandwich template, then expect to hear the WMU game pushed back to 9/8.

The question remains about the third OOC opponent will be in 2028/9. Those slots may have already been scheduled, but not yet announced. Or with a new HC in place, there may be a change. And as always, the B1G's network partners are likely going to offer their input. Stay tuned.
