If my research is correct

I believe that is a picture from the season opener in 1978 vs Illinois on 9/16/78. Rick Leach at QB ready to give it to (or pull it from on the option) fullback Russell Davis.

Michigan opened with Illinois, then played the famous Leach-Montana game in South Bend a week later.
