He's good and maybe potentially great when everything is on platform, but that's not how to be a successful QB. I'm sure he shreds in practice even with "simulated" rushes - that he knows aren't real.

If every practice had just been a live scrimmage, I bet he'd have been terrible. Not just not a 7 star recruit, not just disappointing, but legitimately a bad QB.
I fear it's something instinctual that just can't be taught. That first drive was like his 7-on-7 practices. Drop back, first receiver is open, throw.
The *second* he started getting any pressure, suddenly his footwork became terrible, his decision making terrible, he started airmailing passes - and he started feeling the pressure even when it wasn't there, just like last year.
Game quarterbacking is just so different from any kind of drill you can do in practice. And there have been plenty of large athletic men with great arms and even good accuracy who just didn't hack the mental part of the position.
I haven't completely given up hope, that would be just as idiotic as thinking he'll definitely be great. I just had questions before the season and I'm worried about the answers we saw tonight.
