it's fine to show 8 if we snapped at 9.0 and it's now like 8.7 or whatever. But that also means when it ticks from 1 to 0 that you really have another 0.9 seconds to go.

If ":00" on the clock means 0.0 seconds, then ":09" should mean 9.9 seconds and it shouldn't be showing 8 on that clock.
