Since there's a decent chance he's starting at some point this year, i was curious how he looked.

He's decisive -- the time it takes for him to scan from one target to the next and decide where to throw is very quick for a freshman. He's also extremely accurate, with just a couple throws that were off point (one of which was nagged with one hand).

Arm strength is a concern. He threw a seam route and it wasn't on a line -- it was on an arc, albeit a small one, and that's a throw most QBs can make like a laser. He did not throw far downfield very often. I think the passing offense would be limited with him, much more focused on the quick game and some fade routes on the sideline to keep the secondary honest.

In retrospect, the fact he looked better than Underwood was probably a sign he is, in fact, better than him at this point in their careers. Really wouldn't be surprised if he is playing by the UTEP game barring significant improvement by Underwood.
