1) HAHAHAHAHA! My only regret is that the OSU collapse happened after it ended. I watched the turnaround/end on my phone on the car ride back home.
2) Very little shit given. one guy, unclear on his fandom, said something like 'sorry they suck this year.' Which I pointed out we won (again), which didn't impress him.
3) Some of the workers asked how OSU did. I told them that they were killing Texas, which, at that time, was true. Well. That didn't last.
4) It's a very cool venue, the National Museum of the Air Force. Though it's a bit strange to walk through a gate with "Arbeit Macht Frei" above it on the way to a party.
OTOH, you can take pictures in front of headlines like this, which was fun:
5) I'm grateful they stopped doing the whole round of toasts they used to do, mainly because they'd do one to the President, and, well, that's awkward these days, but I was also sitting with the whole leadership triad from NASIC and it's also awkward if I conspicuously don't drink to the President and I managed to avoid all that unpleasantness.
6) We got to discussing head-shaving, as my boss is balding and fully embraces that his hair looks terrible and is debating when to finally Bic it, but also lamented that his head-shape is not great, so he's kind of fucked either way. I suggested we make it a fundraiser.
But this led to other head-shaving stories, including me relaying when my (female) paralegal shaved off her fairly long luxurious hair to nothing, but, first, shaved in a male pattern baldness look so she could go as Sexy Dr. Phil for Halloween, at which point I was told never to say the phrase "Sexy Dr. Phil" again, which, point taken.
7) This is how I learned the new commander of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Lt Gen Voorhies, is named Jason. Jason. Voorhies.
8) Ran into my old old boss, the one who got fired for a DUI and then has had a lot of other issues, alcohol and otherwise. On her way to medical retirement which is for the best. She was drinking water (I think) which is good. I hope it was water. I liked her a lot, but she really needs to get it together, and I hope she does/is.
9) We stopped on the way home (my SIL had to pick us up because Uber kept turning us down) at a late night pizza place, which was packed. I have not really been out late at a bar situation in awhile. I felt old. Also, way overdressed, as I was wearing what is functionally a tuxedo. I did not take off my jacket to reveal the M shirt, since OSU had just finished losing. It's the kind of wise and savvy decision-making that has gotten me to where I am today.
College football team is a pretty popular choice for these.
