I don’t like the out route to Marsh that the DB got a hand on in the 2nd Q, because it was 1st and 10. Don’t put the ball at risk on 1st and 10–just throw it away.

But were there any others? Several of the ones not completed were very well thrown balls. The DPI to Marsh was placed where only Marsh had a chance to catch it.

(Mateer, on the other hand, made several poor throws in the second half.)

I’m coming around more to Rich’s position: the strategy of turtling the offense in the second half was really not supported by the evidence. Dampier was a much better runner than passer. That is not true of Bryce. I guess you can understand why the coaches may have been a little spooked by the WMU performance, though.
