He's 29, so he's probably only got a couple more seasons competing for slams

The big three are total outliers in this regard as well as so many others -- leaving them aside, players don't win slams after age 30-31. Zverev did get quite lucky this season, but OTOH he has been in six slam finals now, and he has won seven 1000s. So historically speaking, he's clearly a cut above Wawrinka and Cilic, a couple of other guys who sort of lucked into major titles. He's not close to Murray yet though, who was in eleven slam finals and won 15 1000s. It will be interesting to see if this season gives him a psychological boost in terms of what he does in the two or three prime years he probably has left at this point.
Related fact: As of the end of this season, probably the only guy over 30 who will be in the top 50 will be Djokovic.
