That “time to make the sports” promo is something that would have been bad 30 years ago when the Dunkin’ Donuts ads were contemporary.

They (McAfee, Barstool) embody something I’ve complained about in and out of sports for a while. For a decade, we have seen an increase in aggressively tying “being manly” to the absolute worst stereotypes of male behavior, trying to make them positive. Are you crude, offensive to women, incapable of civility and subtlety? Do you need everything to be the biggest, to be sold to you by Bigfoot riding a pickup? Should your deodorant smell like a rank locker room?

No, actually that’s all bad. Let’s stop acting like it’s just being a man
