My brother is writing a really interesting book about responsible drug use (drugs very broadly defined to include things like gambling and social media). He talks about his experience in Michigan as a teenager in the 1980s, and how there were some upsides to weed being so expensive and relatively lower quality.

The book's message is that almost anything can be good for you in smaller quantities and terrible in larger ones. But the moral panic/demonization of drugs has obscured this.
