If I might make a suggestion

Try to focus on making it a fun event FOR THEM. This means taking into account what you think they would most enjoy and making those things the center of the experience, even if it's not exactly how you would spend the day. I'm saying this because I need to remind myself of this all the time in this sort of circumstance.
