I got the call when vacationing in the Caribbean after Christmas. Turned out he was abusive and flipped when she wanted to leave him. She left behind a 9 year old girl. I had no idea he was that messed up personally. Always came across as a nice, thoughtful, and smart guy who was moving the department in the right direction.
