I’m in the middle of a crisis…

For 73 years(save one when I was at the Pole) I’ve been excited about the start of the college football season. Not so this year, I find myself in a web of indifference. I hate this feeling.

Why do I feel this way? Perhaps I’m just getting older and wiser but probably not(well older). I believe it’s because of the morass that college football has become.

The governing bodies or lack thereof make FIFA look like a bastion of integrity and intelligence.

The landscape of major college sports has become a cesspool created by greed(everyone), the lust for power(Charlie Baker, Greg Sankey, Tony Petitti, etc), and megomaniacal egos( the Ellison’s and Haslam’s.)

I realize all major college teams have their oligopolistic sugar daddies and mamas, and as a fan of Michigan and Tennessee I hope they win their games. But I just can’t be too enthusiastic about teams bought by Larry Ellison and Jimmy Haslam.
