In case it isnāt clear, Iām NOT talking about literal strength or even (in the Hemingway quote) necessarily financial bankruptcy. (Although the financial thing is true for the federal government). Itās more about moral bankruptcy & a lack of humility, grit, empathy, prudence, patience, character, honesty, etc.
