I know of him, but no, I was a low level scum grad student being paid peanuts working with NGOs in Moscow and with the Kazakh government directly in Kazakhstan and had no contact of any kind really with the diplomatic corps.
I technically was working for Los Alamos National Laboratory as a part of Nunn-Lugar funding so it was not official US government work per se.
