I don't think anybody has actually thought through the premise that the rollout with a run-pass is an especially good play inside the 10. It's just the product of talking without thinking.

You're up in the booth, you're filling air, and you're thinking "Should they run or throw?" And you don't have much time to form a conclusion, so the thought pops into your brain "why not a play that gives you both options?" which sounds perfect, so you say it.
