the seller is either a clueless owner who never took care of it and had no idea the date function didn't work, a seller that just flips them and has no idea what the condition is, or a liar that knew it didn't work and was hoping it didn't get caught by the authenticator. Either way, why buy something that could be trouble. If you are patient, another deal will come along.

watch advice - i bought a used omega watch on ebay for a little over 2k and authenticator noticed its date dial doesnt change at midnight. Defect was not in listing and seller says he hadnt noticed. He's offering 120. I can either walk away, counter, or accept. How should I play it?

Is it a watch you will wear every day? Or will you go a few days between wearings? If the latter, you're going to have to wind it and set the time anyway. If you can get the dude to knock $500 off, I'd keep it and not even fix the date complication*
