I get that Ferran is younger than Rodri but he is also not nearly as good at his position as Rodri is. He went through a confidence problem for much of 2026, going 15 matches without scoring for Barca and then struggling for Spain (the poor guy was pleading for his meaningless goal at the end of the Saudi Arabia match to count because he wanted the mental boost from it) right up until extra time against Argentina. Overpaying for a guy who had one big moment at the World Cup is a bad idea. That said, Lucho has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt and Ferran is a really useful player when he isn't up in his head. I'm just pointing this out to show that "last year of the deal" isn't the end all, be all.
