I listen to podcasts to be entertained or learn things. Two of the only under-produced podcasts I can stand are The Dollop and Behind the Bastards. But both of them work from scripts, minimize the tangents, and do some editing after the fact. I have no idea where people find the time to listen...

... to the rambling ones, even if the hosts and guests are amusing. I tried listening to "Well There's Your Problem" (engineering debacles from a leftist perspective), and although it was good once they started discussing the topic at hand (the ill-fated Oldsmobile diesel), it took them 35 minutes to even get started. During that time they just made inside jokes, complained about things in their daily lives, discussed news that is no longer topical 2 years later, etc. As fun as I find their premise, the execution is just aggravating and less than professional.
