controlled by the federal government, state government, county government, or a city?

Or is it permitting for an activity that all levels of government have a say in? If it’s the latter, wouldn’t you consider the difficulty as an inherent byproduct of a federal system? Meaning-if we got rid of state and local governments, permitting generally, and large projects like high speed rail specifically, would be much easier.

But eliminating state & local governments would be historically unpopular, right?

- I was talking about "government" generally -- across all levels. Permitting generally happens at a more local level for ordinay building projects. - By Alpo August 28, 2026 at 01:21:08 PM
