AIPAC is fine in concept (it's mainly funded by American Jews) but it has become so toxic that Democrats should run away from it.

As usual, Netanyahu is to blame. He is pathologically opposed to a Palestinian state, which is a real problem because the best path forward for Israel would be normalization with Saudi Arabia and a peace process is their non-negotiable demand. Netanyahu is also all about self-preservation and will align himself with the absolute worst people in Israel to maintain power. Thus, you have an indefensible Israeli government and an interest group that is committed to defending that government. We're not going to get anywhere politically with respect to being able to defend Israel within the US until there is a new ruling coalition. I'm not sure that AIPAC will ever be the same because like Bibi, it is now on one side of the American partisan divide but that doesn't mean that support for Israel is doomed.
Similarly, I'd be fine with the US reducing aid to Israel until it gets a better leader. Use your leverage to get the Israelis to behave.

As a Jew who is moderate on Israel (supports its right to exists, hates all the right wing parties), I find AIPAC unamerican as hell. Anyone else have a similar viewpoint?*

Strongly dislike their viewpoints, but as an org they are way more American in principle than, for example, the saudi lobby...

Hate Netanyahu, as most of my family in Israel does. He is the worst autocrat. Don't give an f about AIPAC one way or the other, but resent any suggestion that Jews are someonehowe wrong to put their money behind their political beliefs, whether it be Soros, Adelson or AIPAC donors.*

Isn’t this the mainstream position amongst most Jewish people in the US? Every Jewish person that I know thinks the same thing.*
