1. their spending is exaggerated by opponents. Most opponents are not anti-semites, but others are, as the trope of Jewish money and trickery to unfairly gain power is an old one.

2. AIPAC govt lobbying per year is about $5 million. Amazon: $50 million. Chamber of Commerce a lot more than that, etc etc. In election years, AIPAC does spend a lot more on preferred candidates (about $60 million in 2026 primaries, via various PACs), but so do many other PACs. They support pro-Israeli candidates? So what? Qatar spends zillions to promote their interests, and PACs promoting trade, arms sales, immigration/deportations etc with various countries are everywhere in American politics. Why the vitriol against one supporting US-Israel relations? Even disliking AIPAC, I'm sure you know one the answers to that.

3. AIPAC started as a very American Jewish group, endorsing the core Jewish sentiment for many decades (excepting those Jews with little Jewish identity): Public disagreements among Jews are bad for Jews. AIPAC assiduously supported all Israel governments, liberal or otherwise. The underlying belief was that anti-Semites opposed Israel existence, not just policies. I dont think anti-Zionists are inherently anti-Semitic, but the Venn circles have plenty of overlap. AIPAC changed because its leadership gradually became more conservative and because Bibi foolishly and dangerously pulled AIPAC - committed to supporting all Israel governments - into his own Republican>Dem battles.
