I live in the Cleveland area. I have a nice big home in the burbs. It is green and beautiful from April-Oct, then orange and beautiful through mid Nov. I viscerally hate winter.

I have lived in Iraq in the dead of summer and I was in Camp Pendleton in a historic heat wave during infantry school. Personally speaking, I think that both are preferable to great lakes winters.

It's not just the cold and snow. It's the gloom as well. It physically hurts to go outside and it's depressing as hell.
