In our community, the fence ordinance requires that the "nicer" side of the fence face outward, so the fence guys may have put the boards on the "away" side of your fence to comply with the ordinance. It doesn't sound like the fence company is very aware of the local ordinances, but something to consider. So if they just switch the boards to your side of the fence, it might violate the ordinance, and the neighbor would have a valid complaint about that.

- Your definitely taking the high road. I'm in an urban neighborhood with a lot of share fence lines (small yards) . Usually the fence owner puts the boards on their side for the aesthetic.
