Abdul rally in Saginaw yesterday.

My wife dragged me unwillingly there during the Michigan game. I was not happy. I was expecting nothing and wanted to get home to see the game end.

I say this in dead seriousness: I have never been more impressed with a candidate, and at 75, and having worked in government administration for almost 40 years, I've seen hundreds of them.

Bill Clinton and maybe Obama were the only campaigners that I would put in his class. I would put Abdul up against either of them in terms of the depth of his knowledge: that is, details on main street issues.

I've never seen anything like it. It was inspiring to hear policies on real people issues in areas like corrections and housing, areas that I've worked in, articulated with honesty, grace, and humility.

As the dude left the stage, he asked for an updated score from the Michigan game. Fuck me! My wife donated $500 before we got home from Saginaw. And we volunteered to work in his campaign.

I know that I am an old man and maybe a little sentimental. But this is a bad motherfucker. I sincerely ask the Michigan voters here to check him out
