To be clear, when QBs have this authority it is NOT an audible. That is a different thing

An audible is making a new play at the LOS that all 11 guys hear and execute. What this would be is a 2 man smoke route. NFL QBs have that authority, but maybe not all college QBs do. It needs to be practiced, because you can't have BU throw that ball and JJ not realize it's coming, but it does not require an audible as such
