almost 80% or so of MLB players are +- half a WAR on the bases. There's very few guys that are awful or excellent, part of it is just how good catchers are now and how accurate OF arms are relative to prior eras and in shape even the fat sluggers are relatively.

For all the bitching by old school guys sabermetrics rewards fundamentals and measures them.
