I am way lower on him than most. I think his extreme lack of extension on his release makes his stuff way more hittable than velocity and spin metrics would suggest. I mean he will definitely get to Detroit this year but I would not count on him being useful in a playoff push. I think the draft pick comp they could have gotten for Mize is close enough on value to the prospect they did receive that I would have kept him. I think they would have had a reasonable chance at the playoffs this season.
