Michigan reported $175.3M in football revenue in 2024/5 per The Athletic

In an article about advertising at Michigan Stadium, The Athletic reports UM's football revenue last year at $175.3M. Only Texas and Notre Dame are more than $170M.
If this were the NFL and players salaries were 48% of revenue, than the football team's payroll would be $84.1M. My guess right now is between direct payments from the university and NIL funds, it's in and around $40M.
The article also states UM's corporate sponsorship revenue is $35.6M. No figures were given on the payments involving the corporate signage (Coca Cola, Meijer, Google Gemini) coming to Michigan Stadium. UM confirmed that advertisements will be on the videoboard. Texas is at $52M and Ohio State reported $42.8M for that revenue category.
Notre Dame reportedly will be getting $20M annually to put SoFi patches on all their teams' uniforms. Ohio State is set to receive $17M per year to do the same deal with Chase Bank. No word yet on Michigan doing a similar deal, but I think we realize it's just a matter of time.
If you wanted to pay a football player $2.1M per year at Michigan, that's the equivalent of the combined salaries of the top eight non-football, non-coaching staff members at the UM Athletic Department (not including Manuel). I only point that out to the posters whose knee-jerk reaction is to scream about bloated staff at the AD.
