yes and no, they need someone in the box who can drop into midfield and assist in the buildup because of teams pressing and most coaches would like more of an athlete that can press when needed after a turnover

Haaland and Kane are top scorers, but both are well known for dropping into midfield and assisting in the buildup. It just seems that in today's environment where teams either want to press up top or set up in a midfield block and press the ball at midfield, having one or two players that aren't involved in the passing and possession game doesn't work. One of the chief complaints about Guirassey at BVB is that when he isn't getting service from midfield or the wingbacks, he contributes nothing. In some of the tougher matchups like last weeks Bayern, he rarely even gets a touch. Similarly, teams want players up top that can apply pressure quickly. The role just seems to be changing.
