The Victors

Like about five years ago, I got the sense that there was a great generation of strikers who were getting old (Suarez, Cavani, Benzema, Lewandowski, Aguero, etc.) and very little coming up behind them, certainly no one on that level. Other than Kane, the strikers who have emerged since then have not been that great. Last summer was a banner striker market (Isak, Ekitike, Gyokeres, Sesko, etc.) and none of them hit big in their first season with a bigger club. Part of me is relieved that Barca are unlikely to be able to sign Alvarez because they would likely overpay for him and I could see him disappointing like those others, especially because he isn't a traditional striker (or maybe that would make him better?)
