If he had retired at the end of the 1996 season, his career line would have been

382 starts, 80.7 bWAR, 76.8 fWAR. 2,776 INN, 192-111, 3.06 ERA, 2.94 FIP, 1.15 WHIP, 3.03 K/BB. 3 Cy Young awards.

Today's voters would put him in first ballot with between 76.8-80.7 WAR. Voters in 2001? Much harder to say but I think he would've been in.
