Front door, heavy wooden, solid. There’s a hairline crack running north south near the bottom, about 18-20 inches long. When it’s warm the crack can barely be seen. When it’s cold, it must flex because you can just see light.

Is there a product I can apply that will close the crack? I can’t just replace a “panel” because the door is one solid piece. Would that flex seal stuff work? Spray some on, let it dry, repeat. Then we just repaint the whole with high quality paint . Badda bing?

- Really depends on the crack. But since it's clean through the door, you should start with wood glue. Lots of it, and work it into the crack. I'd also clamp the door from both sides using woodworking pipe clamps. Then if there are still gaps after you glue/clamp, go in with epoxy wood filler** - By Brad September 23, 2026 at 02:46:15 PM
