The Victors

1. I think this is probably our last Disney trip of any kind. My youngest is 10 and aging out, but regardless, fuck it is expensive and busy. They want you to spend $400 on a nicer table service place but treat the check in process like you are going to the Old Country Buffet. Also, the scooters!! We were behind one woman by herself in Haunted Mansion line who appeared to be late 20s max. Once we got to the point where the scooter can’t go, she parked it and was walking as well as any person. It is a nice option to have for disabled people, but I think people that are just that overweight or out of shape should have the self-respect to stay home.
2. We drove up the Pacific Coast Highway to Monterrey. Long, tiring drive but really glad we did it. Less scary to me too than driving in the mountains on the way to the Southeast. I was shocked by how long we were without any cell reception – that is really a thing? I would do it again if I could start from Monterrey go to Big Sur and back. You would have more energy for more stops than coming from Anaheim.
3. The temperature change is crazy. We went from 90 degrees and sunny to wearing a jacket in Monterrey. I loved that about Monterrey as well. Walking around in August wearing a jacket and shorts is just perfect – felt like fall. If my kids ever settled in this part of the country, I’d have no hesitation getting a place (a small place considering cost).
4. SF is a fun city to visit. Feels so unique. It definitely is not as clean as NYC or Chicago, but it is still great. I know they still have a homeless issue like any big city, but really didn’t see much of it. LOL at people that watch Fox News asking about safety when you mention visiting. I just laugh and ask them where they get their news.
5. Took a Waymo a couple times. Pretty amazing. It was more aggressive than I expected. For example, if it is behind a car turning right waiting for people to cross, to will go around the car. It does get confused by situations that would not confuse a human. However, pretty amazing to experience.
6. In Chicago, all the billboards in high traffic areas are lawyers, jewelry, other stuff you probably see in most cities. In SF, it is basically 80% AI ads. Not AI generated ads, ads for companies touting an area of AI experience. Nobody knows what AI will exactly be, but it is coming. Do not doubt this.
