A couple suggestions…

First, and I know this can sound harsh: I strongly agree with xcheck’s comment. Don’t be that parent.
Second, if she’s going to play a sport for four years, her impression (and yours, less crucially) of the coach and program is HUGE. This is a person who is going to have inordinate power over the daily shape of her life for four years. Being an athlete and a serious college student is really hard. Our daughter found it to be hard at a small college, and virtually impossible at a div. 1 program.
Third, I don’t subscribe to the “40-year mistake” theory. I think ppl (in general) need to let go of the idea that there’s a right or wrong answer in choosing a college. It sounds like your daughter is a great student and will probably excel wherever she goes. Unless she aspires to be a Senator, SCOTUS judge, or President, she doesn’t have to go to Harvard or Yale or Stanford in order to be successful at whatever her career goals are. The best choice is probably the place that feels the most right to her, for perhaps completely intangible reasons.
