Admission offer letter is in hand from his preferred school. That letter states that his offer is contingent on the following things
* applying ED. In this case, deadline is 11/15.
* continuing to have the support of the football coaching staff.
* continued achievement in line with his academic performance to date.

Letter contains a merit award in the amount of $x.

In your case, I think you need to have a letter in hand (not verbal) from admissions containing these things. Then you will know what your deadlines are.

  - That is a very valid question and a highly debatable one. But as a whole, I am just not a huge fan of small schools. Plus, you know, even a bottom Ivy carries the name of an "Ivy."
