My wife is also an immigrant, though she is now a naturalized citizen. She moved to the US in 2019.

It is horrifying to see what is going on now. The path our attorney advised us to take in 2019 is no longer viable as the US Government is unable/unwilling to meet its obligations. We faced the same fears as we waited for her adjustment of status appointments. She was scared to drive for years as there was no way to know what a simple traffic stop could turn into. I had thought/hoped that her naturalization would end those fears, but the ICE gestapo proved those hopes to be foolish. She lived in fear to even take a phone call from family while at the grocery store as she was afraid of what could happen if some racist a-hole heard her speaking Spanish in public.

My wife holds a masters degree in International Business and is fluent in three languages -- and it was terribly difficult to get her into the country. I cringe at the ignorance/racism in the "well if they would just do it right" commentary. There is no viable legal path at this time.

It was about 2.5 years that she was unable to travel back to see her family as we were going through the process which was very difficult for her.

I wish I had your hope for the future of this country. A 55/45 win in November would be a blessing for me, I'm hoping for 51/49.

I hope you and your wife can find some peace, and the ability to travel soon.
