I'm a spot backer, and this is my story.

I know this might sound weird, but I see it sort of as insurance. One of my biggest fears in the entire world is accidentally backing into and hitting a person, especially a child. If I hurt or killed somebody with my car, I'd literally never be able to get over it.

So with that said, let's say I'm going somewhere I'll be a while. Maybe the grocery store, or a restaurant, or a sporting event. When I arrive, my perception is that I'm more alert and awake than I'll be when I leave. So to me, it's like "banking" some concentration - I know I can back in safely now, so even though I can PROBABLY back out safely when I leave I might as well do the harder part now.

I do acknowledge it can be annoying, and I respect when people tell me that.
